Guest Cupper: Zakiya Mason

Zakiya Mason has been a coffee professional for more than 10 years and is currently the Director of Coffee at Go Get Em Tiger in Los Angeles, California. She handles all things coffee, including green buying, coffee menu planning, and quality control.

 

A former dancer, digital animator, and Dunkin’-and-Baskin-Robbins-combo-chain-drive-thru server, Zakiya was also a barista at the legendary Handsome Coffee Roasters and Cognoscenti Coffee.

5.1 Suke Quto

Kurume and Welicho varieties grown 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level by Tesfaye Bekele in conjunction with 171 neighboring producers and washed at Tesfaye’s Suke Quto wet mill in the Odo Shakisso woreda of Guji, Ethiopia.

 

This coffee was imported by Trabocca.

5.2 Harbegona

A mix of heirloom varieties washed at the Rumodamo wet mill 2,300 meters above sea level outside of Harbegona town in Sidama, Ethiopia.

5.3 Finca Marleny

Colombia and Pink Bourbon varieties produced 1,600 meters above sea level and processed by Wilson Andredy Aranda on his farm in Acevedo, Huila, Colombia.

5.4 Gogogu Bekaka

Kurume and Wolisco varieties grown by smallholder producers 2,000 to 2,280 meters above sea level and washed at the Gogogu wet mill by Kedir Jebril in the Uraga woreda of Guji, Ethiopia.

 

This coffee was imported by Red Fox Coffee Merchants.
